After the song, Pledge, prayer and Four Way Test, George Weissbeck introduced visiting Rotarians and guests: visiting Rotarians Ron and Linda Pucinelli were in attendance and Lynn Hood had her guest Melissa Swain with her.
a friend of Barb Dorsey, Brent something introduced himself. President Jan then reminded us to check out the thank you notes from the kids at Whittier on the back table. She then talked briefly about our mid-winter assembly which will deal with Rotary moving forward with technology. Mike Fease explained his game of skill and implored the group to purchase tickets. Sarah Wolverton announced that Santa Paws was a roaring success, raising $2,844.36 for the Idaho Humane Society, a 20% increase over the previous year.

Kyle Woods announced that there will be volunteer opportunities at Whittier School on February 28. The teachers, staff and student body will be moving from the old building into the new building at 2PM and volunteers are needed to help out. Contact Kyle for more information. Marshall Baker announced that we had 452.5 hours of volunteer service in December as well as one pint of blood donated. Marshall was then recognized as our Rotarian of the Month! Congratulations to Marshall and thanks for all that you do for the club!

Terry Bowman's Rotary Moment was devoted to the history of Rotary's member classification system. Currently, 10% of a club's members can be one classification. Terry then announced that Last Thursday will be held on January 31 at the Sockeye Brewery on Fairview at 4:00PM. A tour of the Sockeye's owner's auto collection will be included. Lynn Hood is looking for volunteers to help out at our Dixie Jazz and Crawfish Boil, so let her know if you can help out. Julia Bowman and Jim Brandstetter had the winning tickets for the game of skill, but neither of them was able to draw the correct card. Our Sergeant at Arms led a lively discussion about Edouard Manet, the French Impressionist painter best known for Luncheon in the Grass. He then extracted confessions from virtually every person in the room that they were guilty of talking during the announcements. He put the entire group on probation and warned that future violations would result in fines.

Our guest speaker was the General Manager of the Riverside, Kathy Something. Her thirty years of experience at the Riverside allowed her to give us a terrific look at the history of the property and the past and present photos that she shared were outstanding. Another terrific speaker!

Editor's Note: Last week it was reported that the Silver Sage Girl Scouts received a check for $1,500 from the BSW Rotary Foundation. In fact the check was for $15,000 (!) and was from the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation. My apologies!
